The sun was out for once, not a damn cloud in sight, the waves that lapped the beach were as calm as ever. Some would call this perfect weather- if it weren’t for the cold temperatures. Something that would keep most short-furred animals cozied up in their holes. Of course, this didn’t hinder a particular modified Doberman.
Seigi was at Gull’s Beach today, fervently rushing up and down the shore lengths, nose hovering just above the sand. She wasn’t looking for anything in particular, she wasn’t hunting, no. She was just bored. Oh god how she was bored. The side effects of the Wardog’s Serum were hitting her hard today, any moment spent in idle would drive her nuts and make her legs twitch. She had to keep moving.
It didn’t take long for her to happen upon a washed up offering from the sea. Seigi’s eyes narrowed in on the standalone object. She couldn’t tell what it was, it wasn’t exactly in front of her snout. Wasting no time, the Doberman charged after it- a melodramatic move if she had been witnessed doing so.
The object turned out to be nothing more than a washed up, bloated, dead fish. Seigi studied it for a moment. Her eyes returned to the treeline for a moment, waiting for other scavengers to appear. Satisfied with the lack of an audience, Seigi slumped onto her belly and tore into the fish. She was always hungry, so if food presented itself, who was she to say no?

A beach. Despite the years since the escape, Prince still wasn't comfortable with the idea of the beach. The ocean made so much noise, and the water always seemed so violent. Prince could, at any moment when travelling along the beach, be pulled under and swept out to drown.

Honestly, as much as the thought terrified Prince, it was also quite invigorating. Nothing makes you feel alive like being inches from death.

Besides, the beach often came with surprise snacks, whenever some unfortunate creature hit against the shoreline; and, on this sunny day, Prince hankered for a quick bite, seeing as how everything else decided to yeet back into hiding for some reason. There could be some birds still out, but Prince wasn't about to count on it.

Beyond, Prince laid eyes on some other dog. Black. Tan. It made Prince uncomfortable, given the mount of dogs that had that coloration in the arena; who knows how many others never shared it with Prince. Prince stopped, torn between just bolting or seeing what the other dog was doing. On one hand, big and bulky as they were, the other dog could be another wardog. Not fun. On the other, perhaps Prince could find a way to connive them out of their food, if they had any.

Carefully, quietly, Prince eased forward again, tense with each step. As Prince came closer, it became apparent that the other dog did indeed have food--food that was stinky enough to make Prince's nose crinkle a bit. Prince said nothing, but waited for the other dog to speak first.

The fish was dead as all hell, and had probably been sitting there for a few hours at least. Seigi was shocked the gulls hadn’t swooped down on such a prize yet. Whatever. More food for her either way. Greedily she chomped down on the fish, crunching through flesh, bone, and skin alike. Her forepaws had adjusted the fish to fit between them stabily as she meticulously ate around it’s skull now. She hadn’t had too much experience with fishing, but she knew the best meat was stored in the cheeks.
Due to Seigi’s modification, it took a lot of food to fuel her restless body. Of course, food was something the Island always seemed reluctant to hand out. Long gone were the days where she was fed meals by the humans, either in the bowl or the ring. With no experience in the wild, Seigi had resigned to scavenging for most of her meals.
So when a strange dog had crept up on her enjoying her dinner, Seigi was less than pleased. The Doberman almost let out a warning growl, but a thought quickly stopped her. If this dog doesn’t back the fuck up, maybe I make use of it. The loner licked the fish off her lips as she rose to a relaxed sitting position. Carefully she looked over her shoulder, taking in the runt’s appearance with her icy gaze.
“What do you want, runt?” Seigi's tone was cold, void of any outright aggression or friendliness. No normal dog would be so happy to have visitors while eating in her mind, but she wasn't about to scare off another potential meal so quickly. The doberman let out a huff, staring coldly on the stranger as she waited for a response.
